Mars
Known locally as “Mars,” Wheal Jane is a former mining site in Cornwall, crossed by footpaths and mountain bike trails that cut through its dystopian post-industrial landscape. I took these photographs as references for my ceramic practice, drawn to the vivid mineral colours, fractured surfaces, and rusted textures left behind by industry and pollution. Having visited the site since childhood, its strange, almost dystopian atmosphere continues to shape my work and my interest in erosion, decay, and ruination.
